Rest in Peace Laurie Starling

Laurie Starling, 29, was shot several times whilst innocently sitting in his Ford Ranger outside his garage on the 24th of July.

Laurie; owner of "The Chop Shop", former judge at Summernats and MotorEx, and this years winner of the Summernats Grand Champion Award for the candy red FB Holden, pictured above, was a prominent figure within the Australian minitruck and custom car scene.

Laurie was loved and held in the highest regard by all of those who knew him, and was said to treat you like "an old mate" even after only a few meetings.

It’s a shock to hear that such a violent, and it has to be said- rare for Australia, crime should befall someone in our car scene.

My condolences to Laurie’s family and friends, and girlfriend, Tiffany.

Someone tried to drift an FRS at Shannonville Raceway today…
Didn’t go so well.

Let me just clarify what exactly happened with this because I feel that none of you know the actual story.
The owner ( who is a good friend of mine ) WASN’T drifting, I repeat, WAS NOT.
He was doing hot laps (yes, it was a drifting event but we also invite the lapping guys out).
You can infer from the picture that I was raining that day, and if you’ve ever been at Shanny while it’s raining. Parts of the track become an absolute pool, the fields become a swamp and it just punishes the smallest mistake.
Now the first turn after pit lane was just recently paved and it’s a little bit uneven and leaves pools of water in the lower portions and leaves the higher portion relatively dry.
Now if you hit one of these pools and you start coming around, what do you do? Start counter steering to correct. Which is what the driver did, unfortunately for him, he caught a relatively dry spot with the front tires while he was counter steering and pretty much came around and flew towards that direction, which is why the the car was hit on the passenger side.
So this happened at turn 1, the car went into the field (swamps at the time) and with the fields that soaked, they offered no help with slowing down and the car hit the fences on left side of pit lane exit. A part that gets hit so rarely that it isn’t even covered by the track insurance that you pay for when you rent the track. No worries, we paid to have that fixed.
Admittedly, going balls out while it’s raining and the track conditions are terrible probably wasn’t a good idea but then what good is going to the track?
A couple of friends and I invested well over 12 hours that night trying to sort everything out, recover the car and getting the driver checked out at the hospital and it’s fucking disrespectful for some of you who know nothing of what happened to make fun of what happened and criticize the driver.
…but that’s okay, this car’s going to be fuckin wicked for the 2014 season.

This car is back to shit on you all. First time it sat and moved under it’s own power since 2013.

YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

holy fuck, thats seriously impressive :O
